David Wilson
Distance Learning has been a large part of Davids life since 1997. It all started with an Open University Degree course in Science, whilst serving as a fulltime FireFighter. Finding a passion for this style of learning, he immediately signed up for the Post Graduate Certificate in Education, on completing his BSc, (again through the Open University). On graduating the PGCE and gaining his Qualified Teaching Status, teaching in a Pupil Referral Unit, he took the knowledge, understanding and skills he had developed into the Fire Service where he became an Instructor, teaching many core and specialist rescue subjects. He also tutored for the Open University in their Foundation Science course for several years. Leaving the Fire Service in 2012 to assist in setting up an Emergency Response Team on an Offshore Wind Farm, he taught many Offshore, and Onshore courses as a contractor and through his own company, as well as health and safety and teacher training courses. David has travelled the world using his teaching and training skills, more recently in Dubai, commanding and training Fire Teams in The Burj Khalifa, and Dubai Mall, and The World Islands, an Oil Refinery Fire and Rescue Team in Vietnam, and an Gas Processing plant in Abu Dhabi. He is passionate about learner centred approach to teaching using innovative, and dynamic approaches. His hobbies include watching cricket, Ironman triathlons and ultra trail running, completing the 2018 Marathon des Sables, just outside the top 100.
